The enterprising Enfield Arts Partnership (EAP) has entered into a unique association with WAGN Rail to convert a passenger waiting room at Palmers Green Station into a new gallery space. Backed by European funds this initiative aims to offer an affordable exhibition resource for London artists.

This is the third art space now managed and programmed by EAP, after saving the Grade 2 listed Salisbury House from closure, which now operates as a community arts centre, alongside Gallery Fore, an education and community gallery in Edmonton.

For more information about EAP activities contact Enfield Business Partnership, T 020 8443 4040.

For furtehr details about the gallery contact, Platform Gallery, Platform 1, Palmers Green Station, Palmers Green, London N13, T 020 8350 6653. Open 8.30-11.30am and 4-6.40pm, Mon-Fri.

NEWS: Happy holidays

Employment law update from Richard Murphy, a-n WEB's online business advisor.

From 25 October temporary workers are entitled to paid annual holiday leave. And if they don't get a holiday they are entitled, taken at the end of their contract, to payment for time not taken. These are important changes in UK law that have arisen as a result of a European Court ruling.

The minimum legal holiday entitlement is four weeks paid leave a year. So, assuming a five-day week and forty-eight working weeks a year, one day's holiday pay is due for every twelve days worked.

As this new law applies to existing as well as new contracts this is an issue for any artist now working on a temporary contract. So remember to check out your holiday entitlement with your current or future employers.
