NEWS: Artworks MK The Milton Keynes based organisation Arts Workshop Trust has been just announced its brand new name, Artworks MK.
Established in 1974, the organisation has developed a strong reputation for high quality arts and crafts activities, workshops and facilities.
Artworks MK has three centres located across Milton Keynes offering a variety of art and craft opportunities that enable people from the area to develop creative interests and learn new skills.
It runs a programme of events throughout the year that range from educational workshops and traineeships to ongoing activities such as evening classes and specialised courses. As well as organising a variety of festivals, exhibitions, residencies and commissions.
Each centre is equipped with wood, ceramic and silversmithing workshops, as well as artist studios. They also house ongoing craft displays providing sales outlets for the work produced by both the artists and the participants.

Cockpit Arts will launch a new website at its open studio event in November. This new site will include information about Cockpit's studio spaces, current makers, educational opportunities and news of forth-coming events, making in invaluable resource for London's applied artists not to mention potential buyers. The inclusion on the site of a full comprehensive index of artists, will enable buyers to quickly locate a desired piece of work, and will also assist manufacturers in the search for new designers and products.
Cockpit Arts is a complex of craft and applied arts workshops in London housing over 100 makers. As well as educational initiatives, Cockpit also offers a professional development programme, sponsored by City Fringe Partnership and London Arts Board, that enables designer makers to develop their full business potential through customised training, .
The programme, now in its second year, runs across the academic year and is open to makers from within Cockpit Arts as well as external practitioners. Everyone who completes the course, will be given the opportunity to showcase their work in the next Cockpit open event in summer 2002.
Cockpit Arts Winter Open event takes place 23-25 November with a press launch/preview event opening at 6pm on 22 November. The new website will also be online from that date.
